Why it's important to reinvest back into your home based business

You’ve started your home based business and it’s been running for a few months. You’ve built up a great reputation on the sales you’ve done and word of mouth referrals have brought you in a steady clientele. You are making profits. In fact you are making a little more than when you worked on your 9-5 a few months ago. The question is what to do with the profits you are earning beyond your daily needs.

It is tempting to upgrade your lifestyle once the money starts pouring in from your home based business. You’ve worked hard and you deserve some benefit. There is nothing wrong in taking a bit extra to reward yourself. It is however important to take care of the business needs and ensure that the home based business has sufficient funds to grow and meet any eventuality.

A sound home based business practice is to have ready funds available to:

• Take advantage of any business opportunity that may present itself. There may be a great new opportunity that needs ready cash. It would be a pity to miss out on this type of opportunity for lack of funding.
• Build up a war chest for the inevitable dips in the business cycle. Its good home based business practice to put away funds in the fat times to cover the lean times.
• Upgrade existing equipment and assets of the business. Sometimes a clever upgrade can enhance the running of a business exponentially. It’s worthwhile to reinvest some funds into better and more efficient business tools.
• Advertise the home based business. You can never be too rich, or have too much advertising. Growing your home based business is an important priority in the home based business environment. If you have a little extra profit, a great way of spending it is to upgrade the advertising budget.
• Reinvesting profits into the home based business also strengthens the financial health of the company. It grows the current ratio making the home based business financially sound.
• Reinvestment is also a vote of confidence in your own abilities and it shows a healthy management style. Its shows where your priorities lie.
• Reinvestment allows facilitates taking you to the next level of business. If you spend all the profits there home based business will not grow.

It is also a fact that the best investment you can make is back into your own home based business. It’s foolish to invest excess funds on the markets if your own business could use the injection of capital. The theory is that you should try and earn the “biggest bang for your buck”.

Potential investors also like the fact that the entrepreneur has the confidence in his home based business to invest his own capital. Banks and funding houses are reluctant to fund projects where the entrepreneur has been shy with his own investment. Do not expect others to tread where you have refused to go.
