Working From Home Becoming More Practical

By: Chris Hickman

This type of setup, of course, has several benefits. First, simply put, it is easier. For those who do not have transportation, one can work online without having to be late or even absent. This is an attractive alternative to sending out the resumes (which can run up a small fortune), along with keeping the gas tank filled. Postage isn't getting cheaper, and neither is gas. Doing business online, then, minimizes daily, weekly, monthly, even yearly work loads, although not everything is eliminated.

The Internet offers many opportunities for those who aren't able or unwilling to look for a job or go work away from home. Whether starting a business or working for others who own a business, career-starters see choices and many high-income opportunities, such as sales jobs, desktop publishing, advertising, freelance writing, or web design, just to name a few high-income careers. Considering the vastness of online businesses available and thriving, sales careers are abounding as well, so individuals seeking a job in that field will likely have very little problem finding an access to business possibilities.

Those interested and motivated to start a home business find this a low-expense venture because there isn't any overhead, although monthly host site fees and pay rates to employees are unavoidable. Home-based businesses aren’t as high-pressured as those run away from home and can be conducted on a day-to-day basis as personal life allows, so work schedules are very flexible. Once a business site is up and running, home-business owners need only to maintain updates and business correspondence every day. Whenever that should be is up to the particular individual running the business. Letterheads are still necessary for mail correspondence, but the suit-and-tie-dress-up image isn’t necessary. This is the major reason people gravitate toward home businesses—flexibility in working schedules—and what makes the home-based business opportunity so appealing. Because of the virtual limitlessness of the cyber world, anyone interested in following through on a home business opportunity can easily and realistically do so, as long as business and legal protocols are recognized and adhered to at all times. Even the Internet has its sense of professional etiquette to follow. The online business opportunity, then, is just as equitable for the homemaker as it is for the professional business person with an MBA and experience in corporate network marketing

Another advantage to working online is the ease of personal development and leadership training. The freelance writer, for example, can, at her or his own discretion, accept or decline writing projects that suit interest and background. But that’s not all! These writers are also gaining valuable insight and experience in the field, and developing writing and self-marketing skills that could lead to high-income jobs. Many of these writers eventually outsource writing projects to other freelancers and establish their own businesses.

Interacting with and observing others who are successful in their particular field show professionals everywhere how to expand their skills and attract their own clients. Such success coaching is a very powerful motivation for a lot of people.

The Internet has come to serve a wide assortment of purposes on a variety of levels, mostly good! Because of its prevalence and importance in the world; the Internet has helped people establish viable careers, business contacts, friendships, marriages, and even fortunes. No doubt this ongoing stretch of cyber highway will continue to make life so much easier for many people, since it seems to have a life of its own.

The Proper Mindset for Home Business Professionals

By: Chris Hickman

The best home based businesses and professionals who succeed at them, understand that success is 99.9% mindset. Not only is it important to be organized, disciplined and focused, you must have a positive mental outlook to have a profitable home based business. My series of upcoming blogs will discuss how entrepreneurs with legitimate home based businesses can utilize personal development as THE cornerstone for their business success.

Let's start with the discussion that "thoughts are things". When a thought is mixed with definite purpose and a burning desire, powerful things can happen. Years ago, a man named Edwin Barnes literally thought his way into a business partnership with the great inventor Thomas Edison. The true story goes that Barnes started only with desire as he was in no position to act upon it. Two problems stood in his way. He did not know Edison and he didn't have the money to travel to Edison's Laboratory in New Jersey. That didn't stop Barnes as his desire was stronger than most. When he finally was able to show up on Edison's doorstep, Edison was not impressed, but did notice something in Barnes' eyes that prompted him to give the young man a job in the office. Initially, Barnes did not get the partnership he wanted with Edison, but he did get a chance to work at a nominal wage. Months went be before the opportunity surfaced that would change Barnes life. And the opportunity came in a different form than expected. Edison had invented a dictating machine that his own salesmen did not think was practical and could be sold. They said it would be too hard and there would be no market for this device. Barnes on the other hand stepped forward and said he could sell the machine if Edison would give him the chance. Long story short, Barnes became so successful that Edison gave him the rights to distribute and market the machine all over the country. Barnes was finally in partnership with the famed inventor and became wealthy in the process. More importantly, he acquired the knowledge that thoughts can turn into a tangible rewards.

Through his determination and desire, Barnes's story teaches us that each goal and objective starts with a thought. Will you think yourself into a fortune?

Why you can NEVER quit with a Home Based Business

By: Brad Zimmermann

One of the most common causes of failure is to quit when you've experienced temporary setback or defeat. Every person is guilty of this at one time or another in their lives.

I'm reminded of a true story about a man named Darby who years ago went to Colorado during the gold rush to find his fortune. He was going to dig and grow rich. So he staked his claim, bought a pick and shovel and went to work ...

After weeks of digging he finally struck gold. He decided to go back East, borrow the money from family and friends, purchase the necessary machinery and equipment and with a few family members, went back to the mine. Darby brought in the first load that would take care of his debt and now he was ready for the killer profits. Then something happened, the vein of gold disappeared. They desperately kept drilling, but to no avail. Finally, they decided to quit.

They sold the machinery to a junkman for a few hundred dollars and went back home. The junkman called in an engineer to do a little calculating. The engineer discovered that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with fault lines. His calculations were that the gold vein would be found just three feet away. Long story short, the junkman took millions of dollars of gold from the mine as he knew enough to seek expert advise before giving up.

"Stickability" is the key to success for home based business entrepreneurs. You will certainly meet challenges, but you must never quit. Remember, a single defeat is not a final defeat.
