Carol Mason Hi, my name is Carol Mason. I grew up in Chappaqua, NY, an affluent suburb 25 miles north of New York City. A great part of my life was dedicated to playing tennis. I was fortunate enough to travel the globe touring on the women’s pro tour for 4 ½ years. When I made the decision to retire I focused on my next life’s dream, working on a trading floor. Even though it was a man’s world I persevered until I achieved a position on a Retail Government Bond desk where only 10 women worked out of 500 employees. After 5 years working on the trading floor I moved to London, got married and had my son Christopher. I then stayed home with my son for 8 years and was content being the best mother I could be. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce. At this point we had moved back to the United States and in order for my son to stay in the wonderful school system we cherished I had no choice, but to go back to work. Back to the corporate world it was. Back to a long commute, 60 hour work weeks, stressful days, and constantly rushing. Most importantly I missed being home with my son. I dedicated myself to a top global bank for 9 years, before I was laid off without much of a thank you. That is when I made the decision I wasn’t going back into the corporate world, I had enough. I made the choice that I was going to be an entrepreneur, and start building my own castle once again.
